Beginning on Friday (December 11), and continuing through the following week, we’ll pour a Flights of  Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

 Our Pinot Noir Flight will include:

  • Martin Alfonso 2007 Meyley Vineyard Santa Cruz Mountains

Based on bottle sales last week, the best selling red was the Herman Story 2007 “On the Road” Grenache Santa Barbara Co.  Among the whites, the most popular was the Minassian Young 2008 White Rhonocersos Paso Robles

Our next Wine Class will be held on December 12.   The subject will be Wines to Celebrate the Holidays.  We’ll taste some sparkling  and dessert wines.  Elizabeth will also discuss some food and wine pairings, appetizers and desserts to serve at your parties, dinners and festivities.   The “class” will be  from 3 to 5pm and will cost $35.00.  We have room for  three to four more persons.  Reservations are required.  Go to www.winewisdomandwit.com and click on wine classes.  Select “CA W & C Class” and you can pre-pay.  You may also call 626-358-6500 and make your reservation.  In that instance, please plan to pay at the class by either check or cash to the instructor, Elizabeth Schweitzer.

This is the last weekend for artist Chris Dodge’s  mixed media show which includes oils, acrylic and charcoal works.  While Chris paints in a variety of themes, in this show, the prevalent subject are animals.  From pet dogs to range cattle, they’re on the wall and their looking at you! 

Stop by Sunday afternoons when we’re joined by Norman Davis who plays classical and light jazz pieces for a couple hours.  His guitar playing provides a relaxing back drop to the whole wine and cheese experience. The music starts at 3:30PM.

Tax Free Wednesdays.   On Wednesdays,  all retail purchases will be discounted 9.75%.    As previously noted,  this discount will not compound with others already available.

The Cheese Corner

The holiday season has arrived!  Cheese orders for weekend activities have increased already.  Just a reminder that ordering a week in advance will net you a a 10% savings. 

Upcoming Events:

 On December 15, Russian River Valley Winemaker, Merry Edwards will be at Bistro 45.  She will offer the following five wines to be paired with the dinner:  a 2008 Sauvignon Blanc, a 2007 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast, a 2007 Pinot Noir Russian River,  a 2007 “Meredith Estate” Pinot Noir Russian River and a 2004 “Meredith Estate”  Pinot Noir Russian River.  The dinner will cost $85 pp.  For reservations, call 626-795-2478 or email bistro45@earthlink.net   Bistro 45 is located at 45 S. On Sunday,  December 20, we will offer a Wine and Chocolate pairing during the afternoon.  The chocolatier from D’s Delights will be in the shop from about 2 to 5pm.  It’s the Holiday Season and gifts of wine and chocolate are always a good idea!!

Noir Food and Wine in Pasadena is planning a wine dinner with Brian Loring on January 24.  Eight to ten different Pinots will be sampled, all with perfectly paired small plates from Chef Claud Beltran.  The cost will be $129 (includes tax and gratuity).  Make your reservations at www.noirfoodandwine.com
