At about 5:15 Saturday evening, 45 minutes before the winemaker tasting was to begin, Kris Curran walked through the door carrying about 9 liters of barrel samples from the 2006 Rancho La Vina Pinot Noir.  She stopped just inside the door and seemed to be trying to comprehend the crowd scene!  Sudenly applause broke out  and a night to remember was under way!  She was soon joined by Bruno D’Alfonso.  For the next three hours, they rocked the placewith stories of their individual and joint wine ventures.  Besides the wines they have produced for their own labels, they talked about and made available for tasting, their first joint venture, D’Alfonso-Curran 2006 Pinot Noir Rancho La Vina Sta Rita Hills (it’s likely to be bottles in the next 60to 90 days).

Based on orders last week, the most popular  red last weekend was the D’Alfonso-Curran 2006 Pinot Noir Rancho La Vina SRH (and that was a barrel sample!).   The best selling white was the Curran 2007 Grenache Blanc Santa Ynez Valley.
