Join us on Friday, January 14, when we welcome Winemaker/owner Carl Bowker of Caliza Winery, Paso Robles. With fruit from neighboring Stephan, Booker and Torrin Vineyards, Carl’s wines are getting kudos left and right. It’s all Rhone style with an occasional punch from grapes like Tannat and Alicante Bouschet. We’ll pour through a Flight of two whites and three reds between 5:30 and 8:30pm.
Noir Food and Wine at 40 N. Mentor Av., Pasadena will be hosting Pinotfest 2011 again this year. The activities will start with a Brewer Clifton Winemaker Dinner at the restaurant on January 23 and finish with the Grand Tasting, at the Altadena Country Club, on February 12.
There will be a couple more intimate Pinot tastings at Noir, as well as additional Winemaker Dinners at both Palate in Glendale ( Sundays, January 30 & February 6) and California Wine and Cheese at Monrovia (Sunday, January 30) with Winemaker Joe Davis of Arcadian Winery. The Grand Tasting just keeps getting bigger. There are now more than 30 winemakers and vignerons planning to pour their wines (at least 120 wines) and many other wineries will their local reps pouring their wines.
